Wim van der Poel is a veterinarian, with practical skills, scientifice skills (PhD, Research Leader), and familiar with all aspects of infectious diseases in animals and in particular virology. He is particularly experienced  in zoonoses (notably Rabies, TBE-virus, Hepatitis E virus and Caliciviruses), virus detection and typing methodologies, including viral disease epidemiology, an experienced tutor and able to communicate with officials, industry as well as scientists.
